Oculus Quest 2 Unboxing and Comparison with Quest 1
A new toy has arrived. It’s been two weeks since it was released, but now I got it! As always, the moment I unpack and open the Oculus Quest 2 box makes me happy. The box is longer than in Quest 1, but smaller, and changed from black to white.

Oculus Quest 2 Unboxing
In the box, you can see the Quest 2 headset and controllers. In facts, the headset strap has been replaced with a soft type, which saves space and feels smaller. And the controllers are almost same except for a wider controlling area. I am curious how lighter it is, so I will weight it later.
In the box, there are headset and two controllers, guide spacer, cable, two batteries and manual, and the batteries are installed in the controllers.
Quest 2 vs Quest 1 : Appearance
The main difference between Queest 2 and Quest 1 is that it has been replaced with a soft strap. While Oculus 1 occupied a lot of volumes as a hard strap, Quest 2 is foldable, so it is easy to organize and carry.
However, I am a little worried whether it will fix well. Also the side straps are also elastic, so I am worried that the elasticity may fall when used.
The bottom part has no lens control and only has a volume control button. And the lens can be adjusted in three types by hand from the inside.
The controllers are almost same except for bigger control panel. Some people say that the controllers are a little uncomfortable, but I can’t feel the inconvenience yet because it’s still before play.
Quest 2 vs Quest 1 : Weight
I wonder how much lighter it is so I weighed the headset and controllers separately. In conclusion,
- Quest 2 Headset : Approx. 503 g
- Quest 1 Headset : Approx. 577 gg
- Quest 2 Controllers : Approx. 252 g (except Battery)
- Quest 1 Controllers : Approx. 208 g (except Battery)
Quest 2 is about 30 g lighter than Quest 1
It is difficult to leave an overall review just by comparing the appearance yet. I’m looking forward to seeing how much the improved resolution and clarity and ability to connect directly to a PC have actually improved.
